ABSTRACT

A Permit-to-Work system ensures a formal check is made whenever hazardous work is to be undertaken. It establishes that all elements of a ‘safe system of work’ are in place before anyone is allowed into areas where the Permit-to-Work system is in operation.

Anyone who has to manage, implement or use Permit to Work systems. Typically Line Managers, Maintenance Managers  and Engineers, Supervisors, Safety Advisors and those selected to become new Permit Issuing Authorities (those that issue and monitor the permit to work).
